Cast Iron Electrodes
SUPERLINK-NI
Pure nickel cored electrode — the softest and most machinable of all cast iron electrode types. Produces highly machinable deposits with excellent flexibility. Cold welding technique mandatory. Deposits retain grey cast iron's graphite structure. Suitable for welding grey and nodular cast iron.
Technical specifications
| Ni | C | Fe | Mn | Si |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ≥93% | ≤2.0% | ≤5.0% | ≤2.0% | ≤0.50% |
| Tensile strength | ≥240 MPa |

| Hardness | ≤100 HB |
| Notes | Extremely machinable with standard tools |
Welding procedure & parameters
DC+ (DCEP) or AC. Very low current (below standard for electrode diameter). 20–25mm short beads only. Peen immediately. Allow full cooling before next pass. No preheat on small/thin sections.
Typical applications
Precision repair of grey and ductile cast iron machine tool components where exact dimensional restoration is required after welding. Engine blocks, hydraulic bodies, gearboxes, precision castings.
Storage & handling notes
Best machinability of all CI electrodes. Cold welding only. Not for structural or high-restraint CI welds. Keep dry.
