Hardfacing Electrodes
SUPERLINK-MN
An austenitic manganese (Hadfield steel) hardfacing electrode for work-hardening applications. Weld metal is soft as-deposited (approximately 17–20 HRC) but work-hardens up to 50–55 HRC under impact. Provides excellent resistance to impact and stress loading. Weld metal is machinable in the as-deposited condition. Can be applied in unlimited layers.

Welding procedure & parameters
DC+ (DCEP) or AC. All positions. Do not preheat above 100°C — overheating embrittles Mn steel. Weld in short beads (max 50mm), allow to cool to hand-warm between passes. Use low current to minimise heat input.
Typical applications
Mn steel rail points, crossings, frogs and switches; crusher jaws and mantles (Hadfield 14% Mn steel); excavator teeth and bucket lips; armour plate fabrication; joining manganese steel components; rebuilding 14% Mn earth-moving equipment parts.
Storage & handling notes
Critical: do not preheat beyond 100°C. Keep interpass temperature below 300°C at all times — excessive heat causes embrittlement of Mn steel. Rapid cooling/peening of each bead recommended.
