Medium & High Tensile Steel Electrodes
SUPERLINK 7016
An extruded, heavy-coated, hydrogen-controlled (low hydrogen potassium) electrode. Weldable in all positions except vertical-down. Produces a stable arc with moderate penetration, uniform ripples, compact thick slag that is easily detachable, and X-ray quality welds. Excellent plasticity, impact toughness, and crack resistance. Suitable for AC and DC (DCEP).

Welding procedure & parameters
AC or DC+ (DCEP). All positions except vertical-down. Short arc technique essential. Re-dry before use if exposed to moisture (250°C/1–2 hrs). Preheat recommended for thick sections (>25mm) and high-carbon steels. Typical amperages: 2.5mm: 60–80A; 3.15mm: 90–120A; 4.0mm: 130–160A; 5.0mm: 170–210A.
Typical applications
High-strength structural steels, heavy-duty boilers and pressure vessels, shipbuilding (Class A–E ship steels), bridges, railway wagons, coaches. Maintenance welding of cast steel, heat-treated steel, and wrought steel. Welding of 50 kgf/mm² class high-tensile steels. Buffer layer before hardfacing on higher-carbon steels.
Storage & handling notes
Low-hydrogen type: re-dry at 250°C–300°C for 1–2 hours before use. Diffusible hydrogen: ≤10 ml/100g weld metal. Store in sealed containers or holding oven (100°C–150°C) after opening.
